Berhampur, Jan.1: Hinjili town in Ganjam district, part of the Assembly constituency of chief minister Naveen Patnaik, is set to have a bus terminus with all kinds of modern facilities.
"The bus terminus will be built at a cost of Rs 35 crore," said additional tehsildar Rabindra Kumar Mishra, who along with the field staff of the Berhampur Development Authority and the Notified Area Council (NAC) surveyed the land identified for the purpose.
Sources in Berhampur Development Authority said the design for the bus terminus had been finalised. It will be built on a 4acre and 555 decimal plot of land.
"Hinjili NAC will bear 20 per cent of the total cost of the bus terminus," said NAC executive officer Bipin Pradhan.
The present bus stand in Hinjili is congested and can accommodate only eight buses. The development authority and Hinjili NAC plan to build the new bus terminus on the land of the existing bus stand and the adjoining land owned by the civic body. <>There is space for car and auto rickshaw parking in the nearby areas as well. identifiedshopowners and Former minister urban development Amar Pradhan inaugurated the existing bus stand in 1996. President of the Merchants' Association Sambhu Panigrahi said the bus terminus was built at a cost of Rs 15 lakh using the Member of Parliament Local Area Development fund.
Panigrahi cautioned the Berhampur Development Authority to rehabilitate the traders before the evacuation.
"We will strongly oppose any move to evacuate the traders unless they are rehabilitated," Panigrahi said.
