Cuttack: Orissa High Court has asked the state government to inform it about the status of the land allotted for building a modern bus terminus at Gopalpur nearly two-and-half years ago.
The state transport and commerce department had planned the new bus terminus in 2014 to have a bigger parking space and smooth traffic movement, but the project continues to hang fire.
The traffic management committee had taken up the issue following court's directions in response to a PIL nearly three years ago. A sub-committee had identified the vacant government land at Gopalpur to build the facility.
Subsequently, 42.643 acres at Gopalpur was allotted in favour of the state transport department in September 2015.
When the Maitree Sansad's PIL came up on Tuesday, petitioner counsel Ajay Mohanty said that the project had made no headway.
Taking note of it, the division bench of Chief Justice Viineet Saran and Justice B.R. Sarangi posted the matter to March 26. The court directed the transport and commerce department to file an affidavit regarding the status of the allotted land and the project.
