Bhubaneswar, July 20: While women in the capital were fretting about skin woes with the onset of monsoon, a beauty and make-up workshop came to their rescue on Thursday.
Make-up expert Darshini Sanghvi shared skincare tips and demonstrated a few tricks to looking good in this humid season at an event in Bhubaneswar.
The Attitude Make-over Workshop that also saw the launch of new cosmetics from a popular brand, featured trendy ways of putting on make-up specific to the season as well as in general. Darshini, a well-known name in the fashion circuit, was trained under Cory Walia and Bharat Godambe, popular names in Bollywood for make-up and style.
“Before applying make-up one must first cleanse the skin, followed by gentle scrubbing, toning and moisturising, so that the skin breathes and remains healthy. But one must ensure that pimples or cuts on the face are not massaged roughly. This would lead to more acne and pimples,” said Darshini.
The beautician also gave tips to get rid of blackheads and whiteheads. “The area around the nose should be pressed lightly with cotton balls after a scrub to get rid of blackheads. Face masks, facials or even a full-fledged scrubbing could be done once or twice a week depending on the skin,” she said.
Darshini also advised participants of the workshop to go for fruit-extract based cosmetics. She then sported three different looks by giving makeovers to models.
“I demonstrated the no-make-up look, sensuous look for the night and dazzling party look. All of these need the right eye make-up depending on the shape and size of the eyes by using the right shade of shadow, pencil and mascara,” said Darshini. She added that monsoon leads to a number of skin problems, especially for the face.
“It also spoils make-up and one must always go for smudge-free cosmetics in this season. Moreover, it is a good habit to cleanse your make-up before going to bed. But it is a must during the rainy season to avoid any damage in the skin,” said she.Women were seen taking notes and observing keenly what the stylist had to say.
“The workshop was the best thing for skincare during monsoons since we got to know how to avoid pimples and acne as a result of humidity in this season. Also, we were trained about lasting make-up for special events apart from various tips on keeping the skin young and fresh,” said Nilima Mohanty, a participant at the workshop.
