Bhubaneswar, July 15: Homemakers, part-time businesswomen, students and professionals from different age groups put their best foot forward at a fashion show organised by a private company dealing in health and cosmetics. The event titled ‘Attitude Fashion Fiesta’ took place here last evening.
Around 70 women in the age bracket of 18 and 65 from all parts of the state participated in the show that was a heady mix of elegance and sophistication. At 63, Geeta Mohanty, a medical professional, was the oldest contender for the title. She proved that age was just a number by edging past all but two younger contestants to finish in the third place. “The audience was very supportive. They cheered for all the participants,” said Mohanty.
Sonia Henni Das, a married woman in her late 20s, and teenage student Florens Devi were adjudged winner and first runners-up, respectively.
The event raised the glamour quotient of the Temple City as the otherwise modestly dressed ladies donned stunning avatars that are very much in vogue. The organisers said the event also aimed at empowering common women of the state with effective personality grooming session and make over techniques, thus giving a major boost to their self-confidence.

After initial screening, the first round saw 40-odd women walking the ramp. While quite a few of these women were college-goers, some others were grandmothers. The first round was about the ‘ethnic wear’ where the participants came draped in the traditional six yards in myriad hues. Participants walked the ramp with poise in flashy red and black apparels in the final round, which was centered on corporate wear.
Participants were also felicitated with titles like ‘Miss Attitude’, ‘Best Attire’, ‘Beautiful Eyes’, ‘Beautiful Smile’, ‘Beautiful Face’, ‘Best Personality’ and ‘Miss Style Icon’.
“All participants irrespective of age showed tremendous enthusiasm. We told each of them that it is important that they must feel confident and not get intimidated by their own insecurities,” said a jury member.
A choreographer and makeover artiste groomed the participants about the tricks of scorching the ramp. In the process of grooming, they were given special sessions on skin and hair care by some of the city’s best skincare and hair specialists. The contestants, too, appeared confident while sashaying down the runway as their families and friends cheered them.
