Berhampur, March 25: Unidentified persons shot dead Sunil Bishoyi, 37, of Siarimala village within the limits of Gangapur police station in Ganjam district this morning.

“We suspect the gang members of the dreaded criminal Lambu Tarini, who was arrested about three years ago, to be behind the crime,” said sub-divisional police officer of Bhanja Nagar Ramesh Chandra Sethi.

The police have swung into action to nab the killers after Prabasini Bishoyi, the wife of the deceased, lodged an FIR today.

There were bullet injuries on the left side of Sunil’s chest, shoulder and thigh and the goons fired three rounds.

Recently, the members of Lambu Tarini’s gang had attacked the house of Sunil Bishoyi thrice suspecting him to be police informer and the main person responsible for Lambu’s arrest. Sunil used to work as a security guard. He had gone to the village pond to take bath in the morning.

Four goons, armed with bombs and pistol, soon appeared at the spot. They opened fire and hurled bombs at him.

Nephew killed

In another incident, Aswini Gouda of Bada Badangi village within the limits of Sorada police station in Ganjam district was killed by his maternal uncle Bijaya Gouda and three of his sons yesterday night.

There was a long-standing family feud between Aswini and Bijaya. Bijay and his three sons attacked Aswini with fuel woods when he entered their house with a knife to attack Bijaya. Aswini died on the spot. The police have arrested Bijaya and his three sons.
