Sambalpur, July 3: Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology at Burla has launched a BTech program in chemical engineering, an MTech program in microwave engineering and a five-year integrated course in physics from this academic session.
“There are 66 seats in the chemical engineering, 18 seats in the five-year integrated course in physics and 18 seats in the MTech program of microwave engineering,” said vice-chancellor of the university Bijoya Kumar Nanda. There are several industries in the region. “These industries require chemical engineers. Moreover, the five-year integrated course in physics is very much in demand. The MTech program in microwave engineering is also a job-oriented course,” said Nanda.
The university is planning to introduce biotechnology and mining engineering from the next academic session. The university offers 10 undergraduate programs, 17 postgraduate programs, three MSc programs and now, MCA. There are around 2,800 students enrolled in the university. “Around 1,000 students will be admitted to the university in this academic session,” said Nanda. “The university will consider GAT ranking for admission into the MTech program in microwave engineering. However, if seats fall vacant after admitting students from GAT rank holders, the university will consider the past academic performances and allow them to pursue the MTech course,” said Nanda.
JEE rank will be taken into consideration for admission into chemical engineering. The university will conduct an entrance test for admission into the five-year integrated course in physics,” said the vartity’s public relations cell chairman Prakash Chandra Swain.
“Microwave engineering pertains to the study and design of microwave circuits, components and system,” said P.K. Nanda, a teacher at the university.
