Bhubaneswar: Panda Infra Projects Private Limited, whom the state government removed from the construction work of the Jatni flyover bridge last Wednesday, has threatened to move court on the issue.

It also alleged that false and fabricated charges have been made against the company to remove it from the work.

However, the state government on Saturday said it would float fresh tender for the bridge work. Works department secretary Nalini Kanta Pradhan said: "From our side, we have closed our contact with the company. Let the company move the court, we will fight the case there. We have decided to go for re-tender of the work."

On Saturday, the state government sent a team to inspect the work of the Jatnai flyover. "Once the report from the ground level reaches us, we will go for the re-tendering."

The Panda Infra Project, which had once enjoyed the patronage of influential people, shot to limelight when a portion of an under-construction flyover caved in the busy Bomikhal area of the city and one person was killed. One businessman Satya Patnaik, 41, of Jharpada area died in the mishap, while her daughter, Sheetal, had a narrow escape. In May, one labour was also killed when a part of the bridge collapsed.

Following the incident, the state government has taken a tough stand and started scrutinising all its work. On August 9, an iron plate of the under-construction overbridge near Kudiary Bazar at Jatani collapsed.

The company, in a letter, said the work was going on with proper barricading and on the written approval of officials. "The inspection checklist for various works has been approved and inspected by the department engineers from November 2017 to the first week of August," the letter said.

Coming under public cry, the state government later removed the firm from Jatni flyover work when several allegations had cropped up regarding the quality of work.

Later, the government made several allegations against it, including barricading the road, causing hindrance to the traffic, concreting the retaining wall without the approval and unauthorised construction.

Panda told the works departments that the allegation of barricading the road and thereby causing hindrance to the traffic was baseless and false. The construction of the retaining wall was approved by the assistant engineering in charge of the supervision of the work on July 28, 2017.
