Cuttack, Sept. 7: Artistes from Finland showcased the confusion people face in choosing right over wrong through a non-verbal dance-drama at Kala Vikash Kendra yesterday. The show was a part of the International Theatre Olympiad-2016.

Artistes of Dance Theatre Pinta mesmerised the audience with their scintillating non-verbal dance drama "The Blame", which was based on three stories.

Directed and choreographed by Rosa Lohiniva, the dance drama revolved around three main characters who depicted various shades of emotions.

"In every story, we tried to showcase a person who makes things happen, a person who is completely innocent and only a victim of circumstances and a person who will blame the innocent for whatever is happening in society," said artiste Noora Kaijanen.

Kaijanen said they did not intend to look for the guilty through the play. They wanted the audience to think about life and what was actually causing the problems.

Braving inclement weather, theatre lovers are now thronging the Kala Vikash Kendra to watch the theatre Olympiad.

"It was wonderful to see that the artistes from Finland perform for the second consecutive year at the Olympiad. Cuttack has been a wonderful host to them," said Sambit Rout, a theatre lover from the city.

The theatre Olympiad, organised by Utkal Yuva Sanskrutik Sangha, entered its 24th edition this year. Theatre groups from 10 countries, such as Russia, Italy, Finland, Mexico, Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Bangladesh and Thailand, are taking part in the event.

"Our effort to promote theatre and dying art forms has been successful as more than 2,500 artistes from various parts of the country and abroad are taking part in the 12-day theatrical extravaganza this year," said Utkal Yuva Sanskrutik Sangha secretary Kartik Rath.
