Bhubaneswar, Jan. 7: The visit of Trinamul Congress MLA Nayana Bandyopadhyay, wife of party MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay who was arrested in the Rose Valley Group money laundering case, to the CBI office here for the third consecutive day today raised many eyebrows.

Doubts persisted over whether Nayana has been visiting the CBI office to meet her husband or for interrogation.

The CBI arrested Sudip and brought him to Bhubaneswar for interrogation for his alleged links with the sham deposit collection company Rose Valley.

Today was the fourth day that the CBI interrogated Sudip. Soon after he was brought here, his wife Nayana arrived at the CBI office and alleged that the arrest of her husband was politically motivated.

Trinamul Congress MP and actor-turned-politician Tapas Paul, whose remand was extended for another 14 days yesterday, was brought to Capital Hospital around 4pm today from Jharpada jail after he complained of breathing problems.

The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, CBI, here today rejected the bail plea of Paul. He was sent to Jharpada jail where he had allegedly broken down in front of the jail employees.

Paul was arrested and taken in remand by the CBI for six days last Friday for his alleged links with the Rose Valley Group. He was arrested on December 30, and produced in the court of the Special Chief Judicial Magistrate, CBI, yesterday after the conclusion of his six-day remand period.

Sources said his blood pressure had been irregular since his arrest. Paul's lawyer had pleaded for his bail citing health problems, but the court reserved its verdict on the issue and sent him to judicial custody.

Jail sources said Paul was still in the hospital ward of the prison and he was neither interacting with anyone much nor reading newspapers. He is having his meals and watching television.

The CBI today also questioned Suryakhetra Foundation chief Bipin Bihari Mishra for two hours for his alleged links with the Seashore Group. The CBI summoned him for the second time today after having interrogated him for an hour on January 5.

After coming out of the agency's office here, Mishra, the former president of Mumbai-based Pravasi Odia Organisation, said the CBI officials asked him about the Rs 1 lakh which Suryakhetra Foundation had received as donation from the Seashore Group in the form of a cheque.

"The amount was utilised for public welfare programmes and I have submitted the documents supporting the claim to the CBI," he said.
