Bhubaneswar, Feb. 19: There is some good news for the film lovers in the city. The second Golden Triangle International Film Festival will begin from February 23.
About 19 international films, in feature film and short film categories, will be screened at the festival. The objective of the festival is to create a platform for amateur filmmakers where they can discuss films, create networks and forge collaborations.
Two Odia films - Aloda and Chandal - will also be screened at the four-day festival. Bishal Patnaik, a student of film studies, has directed these two films.
The festival, organised by non-government organisation Golden Triangle Charitable Trust, is named after Puri, Konark and Bhubaneswar that form the famous golden triangle with an aim to promote tourism.
Prominent filmmakers will attend the festival and interact with the participants. "The festival will help the filmmakers exchange ideas and make connections to work in the mainstream industry," said the president of the festival Priya Ranjan Sahoo.
This year, the organiser had received 67 films from all across the world of which 37 have been short-listed for screening. Playback singer Vinod Rathod will perform on the closing ceremony.
The award ceremony will be held on the concluding day where awards will be given under five categories - best director, best actor, best actress, best feature film and best short film.
