Bhubaneswar, Nov. 13: The Xavier Institute of Management in the city is back with Carnival de Vogue 2015, the flagship fashion event of Xpressions '15, the institution's annual Management and Cultural fest.

In a treat for the state's young fashion lovers, the event began today.

This year's theme is "Androgyny" - a combination of masculine and feminine characteristics in fashion. The event includes a ramp walk contest and fashion show. Teams are limited to one from each college.

In the first round, the entire team will walk the ramp. In the second, judges will select a couple from each team who will again walk the ramp, followed by a question-answer session with the judges. The winning team will get a prize money of Rs 25,000.

X-Stage, the cultural committee, and X-SteC, the steering committee for Xpressions are jointly conducting the event. The event aims to instil a sense of fashion in youngsters - not only in their wardrobe, but also as a way of life.

"I am really excited about the entire concept. We have been working on it for over a month now and we have learnt a lot in the process. All of us are hopeful that it will turn out to be one of the best part of the event," said Pratyasha, a student of the institute. Students have put all their energies into making the fashion festival grander than previous years.

"Fashion is not only about the clothes you wear. It's in the sky, in the street; fashion is about ideas - the way we think and the way we live. Fashion is not only about beauty, but also about attitude. You have to be fashionable because if you dream and you believe, you can do it," said Surya, another student.

Xpressions is a management cultural festival organised by the institute. It aims to reach out to the best minds in B-schools to test their business acumen as well as their zest for life. The three-day event is packed with business simulation games, cultural activities, field games and much more. Taking a break from their hectic schedule, Xpressions will give its participants a one of a kind experience and also rejuvenate and refresh them.
