Balangir: A teacher, who had got appointment based on a fake certificate he furnished, has been working at a school here for the past seven years.
Balangir district project co-ordinator of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Dhananjaya Mohapatra found Dinesh Nag, who works at Gambharimal Upper Primary School in Deogaon block, had got the appointment by furnishing a fake certificate of educational qualification. He has been working in the school since 2011.
Mohapatra has asked the block education officer to lodge a police complaint against the teacher.
Sources said Nag had been appointed as a junior teacher at Gambharimal Upper Primary School in 2011. Some teachers at the school and aspirants questioned his appointment, alleging that he had furnished a fake Plus Two pass certificate.
The complaint reached the abhiyan office, urging the district project co-ordinator to conduct an inquiry. During the inquiry, Mohapatra found that Nag had furnished the certificate of a student of the same name.
"The name, serial number, roll number and other information in the certificate of the accused teacher was exactly the same as the certificate of another person. The only difference was the name of college - while it was Rishida College in Kalahandi, it was Rushuda College in the other. In the original certificate, it is mentioned that the student had passed the Plus Two arts examination in third division. But in the fake certificate, it is first division," Mohapatra said.
He said that taking advantage of the same name, Nag had faked the certificate.
"But, the minor changes he had incorporated in the document were detected during inquiry. I have asked the Deogaon block education officer to lodge a police complaint," Mohapatra said.
