Drug bust
Cuttack: Police on Saturday arrested four persons and seized about 1,700 grams of ganja while they were allegedly smuggling the contraband in a car at Mahanadi Vihar. The accused have been identified as Sanatan Hasda, Suryamani Pradhan, Sanjay Mallick and Purna Mallick. The police said the cost of the ganja seized was Rs 7,000.
First prize
Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has been nominated for the first prize among the state's urban local bodies for best performance in providing services to the people. The civic body will get the first prize for the year 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik will award the civic body during a state-level ceremony scheduled to held here on August 29.
Body found
Bhubaneswar: The body of a child, who had been missing since Friday, was recovered from the Paika river in Kendrapara district on Saturday. Four children had gone missing while bathing in the river on Friday. The three other bodies were retrieved on Friday.

Bhubaneswar: A CBI team arrested two officials for accepting bribe after raiding the Head Post Office in Jajpur.
Overbridge
Balasore: Member of Parliament R.K. Jena laid the foundation stone for a foot overbridge between the commercial and administrative blocks of Fakir Mohan College on Saturday. The project, which is estimated to cost Rs 44.44 lakh, would be executed by the public works department.
Hotel sealed
Puri: The Puri district administration, in collaboration with the Odisha State Pollution Control Board, on Saturday sealed 16 hotels, which were running in violation of pollution control norms and without the requisite permissions. Earlier, the board had issued closure notices to these hotels. In April, the administration had sealed 19 hotels for operating without mandatory permission.
Rape victim
Bhubaneswar: The Khurda Child Welfare Committee on Saturday appointed a counsellor for the four-year-old minor girl who was allegedly raped by school bus driver Bijay Maharana. The school authorities suspended two bus drivers. The court recorded victim’s statement, while Maharana was produced in court.
