Pedestrians walk over a divider erected on the Bapuji Nagar-end of the roundabout below Rajmahal flyover. Workers engaged by the works department started erecting the divider on Thursday. This effectively blocks the Bapuji Nagar-end of the roundabout to ensure that motorists use the flyover instead of going under it.
In the last week of August, the works department along with traffic police had decided to close the roundabout under the flyover from two sides for this purpose. The same week they had closed it from the Ashok Nagar end.
With the approach to the roundabout now closed from two sides, motorists heading for AG Square to Kalpana Square and vice-versa will now have to take the flyover. Otherwise they will have to make a detour covering an extra 200 metres. The authorities now hope that the flyover will now be used more frequently, thus easing traffic in the area.
