Bhubaneswar, Nov. 1: Adequate lights and rides for children are some of the facilities morning walkers of N4 at Nayapalli today sought from civic officials.
The walkers made the demands while celebrating the first annual day of their association this evening.
More than 200 residents of Nayapalli use the park, which was established in 2004 and spread over two acres.
Advisor to the association Anjan Debata told The Telegraph: "We have asked the authorities to arrange for adequate lights and toilets apart from providing drinking water facility to the visitors." He said since young couples also visit the park with their children, the authorities have been requested to install a few rides for the kids.
President of the morning walkers' association C.R. Pradhan said: "A portion of the park has been illegally encroached upon. The civic authorities should remove the squatters."
Local councillor Mansirani Sundaray said: "I will request the civic authorities to install lights, toilets and make arrangements for drinking water inside the park. I will also recommend rides for children."
"Many members of the association also raised the issue of encroachment on park's land. I will take up the issue with land section of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation," she said.
The association secretary Nityananda Baral suggested that the park should have better horticulture planning with ornamental plants to enhance its beauty.
