Bhubaneswar, Jan. 24: Tension gripped Jatni today following the death of Sudarshan Sahu who had set himself on fire during an eviction drive on the land belonging to the Puri Jagannath temple.

As soon as his body reached Kudiary, hundreds staged a protest demanding compensation of Rs 20 lakh and a government job for one of Sahu’s kin.

The mob placed the body on the Pipili-Khurda stretch, burnt tyres and put boulders to block the road for around four hours.

Government officials said they would consider the demand for a job.
