Bhubaneswar, Aug. 2: A host of events awaits students and alumni of DAV Public School at Chandrasekharpur this weekend as the institution steps into its 25th year.
A silver jubilee logo will be unveiled on Saturday, while famous personalities from the arena of sports and films will take part in mini marathon “Independence embraces independence” the following day.
The list of guests for the marathon includes cricketer Pragyan Ojha, former hockey India skipper and Rajya Sabha MP Dilip Tirkey, Olympian Anuradha Biswal, actors Anubhav, Buddhaditya, Akash, Siddhant Mohapatra (also Berhampur MP), Mihir Das and director Sabyasachi Mahapatra.
“Woman Grandmaster Padmini Rout, who is an alumnus of our school, has expressed her inability to take part in the marathon but she will be present for some other events,” said Debendra Kumar Pati, a teacher of the school.
Members of the DAV College Managing Committee, including president Punam Suri and director of public schools and curriculum development Nisha Peshin, will also join in the celebrations.
They will speak on “Fuelling common people to attain uncommon results”.
A havan (making offerings to consecrated fire) will be held on Sunday morning, followed by the inauguration of the B.C. Patnaik Institute of Elementary Education, a four-storey building on the second campus named after the school’s founder chairman.
“Kindergarten to Class IV will function there. We plan to conduct primary teachers’ training programmes from that building,” said school principal K.C. Satpathy.
