Bhubaneswar, June 6: A 37-year-old man was shot dead by two criminals near Sankaracharya mutt in Puri, 60km from here.
The deceased, Purna Sahu, 35, collapsed after the bullets hit his head and chest. Police suspect past enmity behind the murder.
Eyewitnesses said the criminals shot Purna from point blank range around 10.45am as soon as he reached a betel shop near the mutt.
“He was involved in a number of crimes in the city,” said a police official.
“Investigations revealed that past enmity was the reason behind the ,” said Puri superintendent of police Anup Kumar Sahu.

Rourkela police arrested a person accused of killing a woman in her late 20s whose body was found in a hotel room near the city railway station on May 10. The police arrested Manzar Hussain, 44, from Chakradharpur in Jharkhand. The police said extramarital affair was the reason behind the murder.
