Cops await lie test results in death case

Police are waiting for the polygraph test report of Shashank Chandrabanshi, a sales manager with a private company in connection with death of the 30-year-old Jigyansha Mishra, on Friday.

Bhubaneswar: Police are waiting for the polygraph test report of Shashank Chandrabanshi, a sales manager with a private company in connection with death of the 30-year-old Jigyansha Mishra, on Friday.

Shashank had claimed that the woman, who was with him at his house, of falling off the terrace of his third-floor apartment. The deceased's father and husband have alleged that she was pushed off the terrace.

The police said they were also waiting for the detailed post-mortem report of the deceased. The post-mortem conducted at Capital Hospital had revealed that Jigyansha was under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place. The cops have had also found a liquor bottle at Shashank's house.

"Shashank has been co-operating with the police so far. To verify his claims, we conducted a lie-detection test of Shashank on Saturday. We are waiting for the results of the test," said deputy commissioner of police Anup Kumar Sahoo.

CCTV footage obtained from the entrance of the apartment complex showed Shashank coming home in a car in evening and going out after 3am. Shashank returned after an hour and finally left the apartment on his scooter in the early hours after leaving his car there.

The husband of the deceased, Abhisek Parmanik on Tuesday reiterated his demand of a thorough probe into the incident.

"We have a strong suspicion that she was pushed to death," said the husband.

The police said they had also interrogated the security guard who was deployed at the apartment.

"The guard said that Shashank had asked him to open the gate around 3am saying a woman had fallen from the terrace," said a cop.
