Kendrapara, Aug. 4: Police today arrested a 52-year-old assistant sub-inspector, who was officiating as the head of an outpost here, on charges of sodomising a subordinate on the outpost premises.

The accused, Mahendra Behera, heads Choudkulat police outpost in Pattamundai police limits. The offender committed the crime last night when the 25-year-old victim, a home guard, was on duty guarding the outpost, said sub-divisional police officer Kedarnath Sahoo.

As the news spread fast, local people staged a demonstration outside the outpost.

A medical exam of both the accused and the victim has confirmed sodomy. Behera was booked under several sections of the IPC. He was sent to jail after a court dismissed his bail plea, said Sahoo.
