Convocation time

A student receives her degree from the chancellor of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology and Governor S.C. Jamir at the institute's 37th convocation on Friday. Speaking at the event, director general of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, Trilochan Mohapatra, appealed to all stakeholders to develop the university as a unitary entity. Jamir said agriculture was facing challenges due to reasons made by men and nature.

Speaking at the event, director general of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, Trilochan Mohapatra, appealed to all stakeholders to develop the university as a unitary entity. Jamir said agriculture was facing challenges due to reasons made by men and nature.
"The amount of arable land is shrinking for urbanization and climate change. Our prime target is to ensure long-term food security for the population and build a profitable, sustainable and environment-friendly agriculture system," he added.
Honorary doctorate degrees was conferred on agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan and zoo veterinarian L.N. Acharjyo. Some 752 graduates, 452 postgraduates and 14 Ph.D. students were conferred with degrees. Besides, 113 gold medals, three Chancellor's Running Cup and three Vice-Chancellor's cup were also awarded.
