Bhubaneswar: Ordering milk and milk products is now just a click away with the Odisha State Co-operative Milk Producers' Federation Limited (Omfed) going online.

Omfed has signed an MoU with online store Grozip to make its products available online. Omfed and Grozip will be able to sell perishable milk and dairy products onli-ne within three hours. Alongside milk, paneer, curd, table butter, dairy whitener, sweet flavoured milk, and other desserts will also be available. Initially, the service will be available only in Bhuba-neswar and Cuttack and then expanded to other cities.

"We have a sizable costumer base who buy grocery and other products online. Now, customers can get milk there, too," said Omfed managing director Vishal Gagan.

The state had asked Omfed to start online marketing of milk and dairy products in 2015 after the state-owned dairy board failed to sell huge amounts of surplus milk. Gagan, however, said that there was no surplus milk.

"Online grocery stores are gradually coming up as a viable option for people who have got tired of running arou-nd shops to meet daily grocery needs," said Grozip founder Ananda Kumar Mishra.

Grozip has developed a customer base of around a lakh in the past eighteen months, getting around 60 to 100 orders a day from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

"We plan to offer attractive schemes like cashback and free delivery on a minimum order for customers alongside including cooked food in our products," added Mishra.
