Bhubaneswar, Sept. 5: Film lovers in the city got-together and screened the first superhit Oriya film Kiye Kahara last week. The 1968 film was screened at IDCOL auditorium after 42 years of its release.

Starring actor Sarat Pujari and debutante Saudamini, Kiye Kahara was the first Oriya film to run more than 100 days at several theatres across the state. The classic cast its spell even this time on a new generation for viewers who clapped on the beats of the famous kite-flying song Udi udi udi written by Narayan Prasad Singh.

In fact, all songs of the films that were composed by Akshay Mohanty received great appreciation from the audience. The story and screenplay for the film were also by Nitai Palit while the dialogues were composed by Gopal Chhotray and Bhim Singh.

Prolific actors such as Babi, Leela Dulali, Dhira Biswal, Sagar Das and Shyamalendu played key roles in the film.

“This was our second screening event after Mala Janha. The response of film enthusiasts has only increased and we will be coming up with another classic next month,” said Surya Deo, one of the organisers.
