Paradip, Nov. 24: A dangerous stunt show by a six-year-old boy has sparked a row with the government-run child welfare committee (CWC) initiating a probe into it. The child performed a daring stunt in which a motorcyclist rode over him.

The CWC has swung into action summoning the child’s father and others involved in promoting the stunt show.

The boy, Awala Dwarikadhis, a Class-I student of Saraswati Sishu Mandir at Kiabuda village, has become the toast of the locality. Awe-struck villagers watched as a motorcyclist rode over a wooden plant placed on the kid’s chest. Stone slabs were also placed on him.

District child protection officer Niranjan Kar said: “This is a gross violation of the Child Rights Protection Act. Those responsible for forcing the child to perform the stunts will be dealt with sternly.”

Katesh Rao, the father of the child, said: “My son was not forced to take part in the stunt show. He offered to do it on his own. I am aware of the risks involved. But he is skilled enough to handle the stunts. However, I was not aware that it’s unlawful for a child to perform such dangerous stunts.”
