Berhampur, June 12: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has raided a printing press in the city and seized various documents.
It was suspected that the printer had allegedly been printing various documents, including fake air tickets and boarding passes, to enable government employees to avail themselves of their leave travel concession (LTC).
Last night, a four-member CBI team from Bhubaneswar raided the press and seized 14 master plates, hard disks and other documents from the Siva Shakti Printers near Utkal Cinema Hall Square in the Bada Bazar police station limits.
Sources said the central vigilance commission case referred the case to the central agency.
Some central government employees had allegedly produced fake air tickets and boarding passes claiming to have travelled to Port Blair. The tickets had been printed at the raided press.
One person from Gopalpur-Ambapua area in the district had ordered for the printing of these documents, the press owner told the CBI team.
Sources said the CBI team with the help of the son of printer Dipak Kumar Padhi was looking for the person, who had placed the order.
“I don’t know whether the CBI team has arrested anyone. The CBI has not produced anybody before the local court nor has it taken anyone in remand,” said Berhampur sub-divisional police officer P.K. Patnaik.
“We have no idea about the case. The CBI team had sought our help to raid the printer’s premises,” said Patnaik.
