Car with red lights hits auto on NH-5

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 27: An auto driver sustained severe injuries after a government vehicle hit the three-wheeler on National Highway 5 in front of the Public Health Centre at Janla on the outskirts of the city.

The injured was identified as 32-year-old Binod Bihari Moharana, a resident of Barabari village in Khandagiri.

According to the police, a Ford Fiesta car with red lights mounted on it and written general administration department, Government of Orissa, hit the auto while the three-wheeler was trying to cross the road.

After hitting the auto, the car driver and the people inside left the car there and fled from the spot in another car that reached the spot within minutes.

The locals took the driver to the hospital and informed the nearby police outpost.

The police then reached at the spot and seized both the vehicles.

The accident have caused a substantial traffic jam. The police cleared the jam on the road.

The local residents said the car that was moving with a great speed hit the auto while it was crossing the road through the median cut in front of the health centre. After the collision, the auto took several turns and got severely damaged.

The driver sustained severe injuries.

On enquiring, the local residents found that the passengers were the parents of an MLA of the ruling party, who were going to Khurda for an urgent work.

Within a few minutes another car reached there and they fled from the spot leaving the car there.

But the police refused to say anything on this regard.
