Bhubaneswar, Oct. 13: Employees of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) took a break from mindboggling accounts and rigorous audits to relax today to participate in the institution's 150th anniversary celebrations at Bhanja Kala Mandap.

The recreation club of Audit and Accounts organised a two-day programme, “East Zone Cultural Meet, in the city to commemorate its sesquicentennial year. CAG employees from Bengal, Tripura, Sikkim and Orissa got together to make the occasion grand and fun-filled. To add to the excitement of the event, a cultural competition was also arranged.

The participants were seen dancing enthusiastically to various Hindi film songs and folk numbers.

Age was not an obstacle for Oriya participants as most of them surprised everyone with their twists and turns. The group performance of participants from Orissa on the Lagaan song Aaja re, aaja re was full of energy. Sasmita Mishra, also from the Orissa chapter, gave a wonderful solo performance.

Rupa Makhal from Calcutta enthralled the audience with her graceful moves on Assamese song Bihure logon while Sudipta Pal won everyone’s heart with her Radha-Krishna act.

In the second phase of the event, plays such as TATA, Apangu and Sukhi Badan, enthralled the audience. “It was a great opportunity to dance in front of our eastern colleague. After our tiring work, it was a relief to practice for the competition,” said Sudipta Pal.
