Bhubaneswar, May 23: The family members of Samita Dash of Paikanagar area, who had claimed that she had sustained a bullet wound in her arm, today lodged a complaint with the police. In the report, they alleged that the firing incident was the fallout of a land dispute.

Parthsarathi Dash, husband of Samita, said that they have a land related case pending in the court and the judgement was expected in the next few days.

He alleged that they received a telephone call at 1.30pm today and the caller threatened him of dire consequences. “When I called back, realised the caller had made the telephone call from a public booth near Rabi talkies,” said Parthsarathi, who has business establishments in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

Twenty-nine-year-old Samita Dash sustained injuries on her right hand while she was drying clothes on the roof yesterday morning. The doctor removed a bullet from her arm. The family later handed it over to the police. Police had claimed that the substance was a pellet shot from a toy gun.

The family members today said that they had purchased a plot of land with a house that was in dilapidated condition in the Rabi talkies area five years ago. “A woman used to stay in that house earlier. Following her request, we allowed her to stay there. Later, the woman refused to vacate the place and now some more people are staying with her.”

Parhasarathi had filed a case in the civil court in this connection.
