Cabinet meet
Bhubaneswar: The state cabinet will meet on Monday to deliberate on 14 proposals. It is likely to give post-facto approval to Kalinga Siksha Sathi Yojana. Besides, the proposal to set up Odisha Mineral Exploration Corporation is expected to be approved at the cabinet meet.
Dam visit
Bhubaneswar: The 12-member BJD team on Sunday received consent from the Chhattisgarh government to inspect barrages on the upstream of the Mahanadi in that state. The team led by Prasanna Acharya will reach Chhattisgarh on August 9, instead of August 7, as planned earlier. According to sources, the team will inspect the Kelo project site during their visit.
On the other hand, the BJP claimed that the Chhattisgarh government had shared details of the project with the Odisha government. The party said the Odisha government was trying to mislead the people.
Bomb scare
Berhampur: Gajapati police seized and defused a 40 kilogram “tiffin bomb” on a road near Telangapada village in Adaba police station near Mohana on Sunday.
Black flags
Phulbani: Police detained as many as 14 workers of the BJP on Sunday for waving black flags to parliamentary affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukh in Phulbani town of Kandhamal district. The minister was on his way to the district headquarters to take part in a mini marathon that was organised to mark the birth centenary of former chief minister Biju Patnaik when some BJP supporters targeted him by waving the black flags near the Gandhi Chhak area.
Youth killed
Balasore: A youth was killed in a bear attack in Balasore district on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Ganeswar Mallik, a resident of Budusahi village in Bhaunriabada panchayat of Nilagiri block in the district.
Agitation
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Havildar, Sepoy and Constable Mahasangh on Sunday threatened to gherao the Assembly if the state government did not meet its six-point charter of demands.
