Violence arrests

Sambalpur: Kuchinda police on Monday arrested 10 employees of a private construction firm for attacking and seriously injuring two forest department officials in the Pravasuni reserve forest. The employees of Balaji Construction had attacked Bedvyas Patra and his colleague when they objected to the felling of trees during the construction of a road through the forest.

Missing

Puri: Abhisekh Mina, an IIT Bhubaneswar student, went missing while bathing on the Puri beach on Monday. Lifeguards rescued his two friends.

Fire at school

Bhubaneswar: A fire broke out at the Regional High School in Laxmi Barha in Kendrapara district on Monday. The computer laboratory got reduced to ashes. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit in the laboratory.

Hockey league

Bhubaneswar: Five matches of the Hockey India League will be played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The tournament will start from January 21 and will end on February 26.

Woman robbed

Keonjhar: A woman was looted of Rs 1 lakh in front of the Anandpur police station in Keonjhar district. The woman had withdrawn cash from the State Bank of India’s local branch and was on her way home, when two goons on a motorcycle intercepted her and snatched the money.
