Tremors felt

Dhenkanal: Mild tremors were felt at Dhenkanal and adjoining areas on Saturday morning, injuring one and triggering widespread panic. However, no loss of life or property was reported.

Industry

Bhubaneswar: The single window meeting chaired by chief secretary G.C. Pati on Saturday approved a proposal for four industries in the state. Kasmi would invest Rs 152 crore to set up an industry in Keonjhar while Window Palet would invest Rs 926 core. Middle Cables has pledged Rs 352 crore for an industry in Angul.

Committee

Bhubaneswar: The department of social security and empowerment of persons with disabilities has formed a state-level representative committee discuss issues, including the demands and needs of transgenders. The 16-member committee would be headed by Pratap Kumar Sahoo and Sadhana Mishra as convener.

Bhubaneswar: The BJD is pulling out all stops to make its padyatra on October 2 a success. Leaders have held meetings to ensure smooth sailing of the event — aimed to sensitise people about the government’s development initiatives. Senior party leaders would take part in the march.
