Naveen missive
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday asked the Centre to waive Rs 1450.20 crore that it had claimed from the state government as the cost for the deployment of central forces to contain Maoist violence. In a letter to Union home minister Rajnath Singh, Naveen described the Centre’s demand as “unreasonable.”
ED remand
Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate has filed a petition to the district and session judge court seeking permission to take Manoj Pattnaik, one the directors of the AT Group, on a seven-day remand for interrogation.
Approval
Bhubaneswar: The single committee, chaired by chief secretary G.C. Pati, on Wednesday approved four proposals related to the setting up of industries worth Rs 850 crore. The tourism proposal includes setting up of a water sports complex in Puri and a hotel management institute in Khurda.
Protest
Bhubaneswar: Members of the Airports Authority of India Joint Forum, Bhubaneswar, staged an agitation in front of the airport director’s office against the proposed privatisation of airports in Calcutta, Chennai, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. All-India organising secretary Pradip Kumar Mukherjee addressed the members and asked them to stay united against the government’s move.
