Tripathy bail

Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation has moved the Supreme Court challenging the bail of BJD legislator from Banki, Pravat Tripathy, who was arrested in October 2014 for his alleged links with money deposit collection company Artha Tatwa group that has allegedly cheated thousands of investors across the state. Sources said the apex court has also admitted the special leave petition filed by the investigating agency. Orissa High Court had granted bail to Tripathy in March this year.

Environment 

Bhubaneswar: The three-day Odisha Environment Congress at the Regional Museum of Natural History concluded on Thursday. This year, government officials, scientists, researchers and decision makers from different organisations and academic institutions from the state and outside brainstormed on the link between environment and health. 

Graft case

Baripada: The special vigilance court of Baripada has found a former revenue inspector guilty in a graft case and sentenced him to two years in and a Rs 3,000 fine. The accused, Santanan Samal of Daintiamuha, was caught in 2005 accepting a bribe of Rs 600. 

Gopalpur fest

Berhampur: The famous Gopalpur Beach Festival kicked off on Thursday with conch shells blown to the rhythmic sounds of cymbals and folk dance performances. The five-day festival will continue till December 28. The star attraction of the inaugural day were singer Shabab Sabri and comedian Ehsaan Qureshi. 

Kidnapper held

Balasore: Police arrested a 39-year-old man for kidnapping a girl. The accused Ashok Patra of Bansada village in Bhadrak district wanted to take the victim to Khargapur when Rupsa police caught him. The accused was later presented in court.
