Minor raped

Kendrapara: A forty-year-old teacher of a government-run primary school in Kendrapara district was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl. The incident took place on the school campus on Monday. The teacher was arrested after the girl’s father lodged a complaint with the police. 

Farmer death

Boudh: A farmer in Boudh district allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison on Tuesday. The deceased farmer, Subhanath Pradhan, hailed from Khuntapada village. His family said Subhanath had taken the drastic step apprehending crop loss.

Man killed

Kendrapara: A 38-year-old man was allegedly shot by two motorcycle-borne goons at Tendakuda village in Patkura police station limits on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Mir Abdul Sattar. 

Protest

Bhubaneswar: Lecturers and staff members of the 488 category-aided colleges of the state will take out a rally on December 17, demanding abolition of the block grant system and making provision for full grant-in-aid to all such colleges. The teachers have also threatened to disrupt examinations. Around 10,000 lecturers and staff members are expected to join the rally.
