Ganja seized

Bhubaneswar: Police on Friday seized ganja weighing around 2.5 quintal in Puri and arrested 16 people. The police raided three separate places and seized the contraband valued at over Rs 12 lakh. In one case, they recovered the contraband from a passenger’s bag at Puri railway station.

Man looted

Bhubaneswar: Unidentified criminals allegedly looted Rs 2 lakh, a laptop and a mobile phone from the car of a businessman, Jyoti Prakash Mohanty, in Damana Square under Chandrasekharpur police limits on Friday. Mohanty had kept the cash in his car and had gone to a nearby shop when the incident took place.

Bombs defused

Berhampur: Two live tiffin bombs weighing 46kg and 47kg were defused by the DVF and the CRPF jawans during a joint combing operation on Baliganda-Dhepaguda Road in Adaba today. Security forces suspect Maoist hand behind the incident. A land mine in the area was defused last month, sources said. 

2 kids drown

Berhampur: Rupali Swain, 3, and her brother Sankar Swain, 7, drowned in a pond at Ambadoli village under Gangapur police station in Ganjam district on Thursday. The duo, children of Kartik Swain of Bahadapadar under Bhanjanagar police station, had been visiting their maternal aunt's house where the incident happened.

Balasore: A 38-year-old helper of a tractor, Srinivas Rao of Indara village in Basta died after a loaded tractor overturned. 

Rs 6 lakh robbed

Baripada: Betonoti police are looking for three goons who allegedly robbed Rs 6 lakh cash from a man on Thursday. The bike-riding goons had overpowered Anil Mahanta before snatching the money.
