Rourkela: The Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) has started clearing all backlog payments of answer sheets due to the varsity-registered examiners.
"The university has started clearing all our dues of the last two years," said a faculty of a management college here.
There was a backlog of payments for two years. "This is among my top priorities. I cannot keep the faculties dissatisfied, as without their help, the varsity schedule cannot run on time," said BPUT vice-chancellor Chitta Ranjan Tripathy.
The move is also visible on the varsity website. "This we are doing to ensure transparency, so that a faculty or an examiner gets to know what his or her payment status is," he said.
Besides, the university has also undertaken another initiative to bring in fairness in the examinations. "To stop impersonation, we have printed the photograph of every student taking the tests."
More so, efforts are on to stop the examiners' impersonation as well. "We had information about this, and for that, we are going to start a biometric system on each of the computers used for evaluation - where the finger of a particular teacher will be registered for a particular subject," he said.
In another effort, the whole academic record of a student will be uploaded on the website with the student getting a log in password. "Along with the student and the principal, we shall have a public log in - which anyone can use provided he or she has the student's registration number," said Tripathy. This is being done, so that the parents can know every bit of the student's academic performance. Earlier in many instances, students used to create a ruckus, because he or she was not issued his degree certificate even after clearing the final semester. "Whereas the same student had back papers in other semesters," he said.
Similarly, once the final certificates are issued to the colleges, this will be uploaded on the varsity website. "This will also identify the person, who receives the certificates on behalf of a particular college, so that there is no miscommunication at any level," he said. The steps will be implemented by the end of this academic session.
