Bhubaneswar, April 14: The newly inaugurated Boyanika showroom in the city has come up with a set of special handloom saris to tap high-end clients.

The store on the premises of Boyan Bhavan has an array of handloom collections in varying colours, designs and texture.

Saris with floral designs have attracted a lot of attention. The base of these saris has tribal motifs while the pallu and the borders have beautiful flowers woven on it.

"Each sari took around three months to weave, and vegetable dyes have been used for the colours. The process is extremely laborious. These new range of saris are an example of the skilled craftsmanship that the weavers of our state possess. The visitors to the showroom, especially foreign tourists, are taking a lot of interest in these collections," said technical officer of Boyanika Manish Mishra.

The price ranges between Rs 25,000 and Rs 2 lakh. A few saris are also available in cotton that is lightweight and apt for the summer season.

Visitors appreciated the designs and the ambiance. "The motifs are quite attractive and a few of them come in beautiful colours," said a 35-year-old homemaker Seema Patnaik.

However, the latest addition to the showroom is a latest collection on Nabakalebar that includes special attires for the Trinity. These saris have been specially made for the festival. A set of 15 such dresses has been made.

"A few of them will be bought by the temple administration while others by devotees. These are made by special weavers from Nuapatna," said Mishra.
