Bhubaneswar, Jan. 5: Fret not ladies if your schedule doesn't allow you enough time to visit your tailor. You can now book an appointment with him or her just at the click of a mouse.
A start up by Odia youths based in Bangalore has made it easier for women to get their dream outfit stitched on time. The online tailoring service, yourtailor.in, is gaining popularity everyday in both Bhubaneswar and Bangalore, where the services are available.
Founded by Bulu Pattanaik, Sanjay, Manash Dhal and Venkat, all software engineers based in Bangalore, yourtailor.in needs a customer to just go the site, give details such as address and book an appointment with a tailor to visit her. The services are, however, only available for women now.
"Our website was launched in Bhubaneswar first. We started in October last year and have already delivered 220 orders. A customer can place order for blouse, salwar, top or dress and a tailor will reach the given address and at the fixed time. They can also customise their designs with a software we use on the website," said Bulu.
The facility was launched in Bangalore this month and has already delivered 18 dresses so far. The website has catalogues and the tailors also carry one with themselves. One can also opt for a designer from the list that the website offers.
The prices are listed on the website and they also offer discount to regular users.
"It was wonderful to sit at home and get my dress designed and delivered within five days. Tailors in Bhubaneswar take at least 15 to 20 days to deliver a dress and are very unprofessional and charge heavily. Here you get a dress stitched for about Rs 400, including a kurta and salwar or churidar. It's very convenient," said Mili Swain, a teacher who tried the website service.
"We are all married men and understand how difficult it can be for a woman to visit a tailor to get a dress stitched. We wish to make it a professional experience for our customers. So, our main objectives are a customer friendly experience and fast delivery," said Manash.
Seeing the response, the founders have raised a Rs 60 lakh fund to expand the facilities offered by the website and also stretch to other cities of the country.
