Rourkela, Nov. 18: Bodies of a teenaged boy and a girl were found today on the railway tracks on the Bramhani bridge near Panposh.
Police suspected this to be a case of suicide.
Bodies of Ajaya Oram, 18, son of Gopi Oram and Sonali Oram, 17, daughter of Itwa Oram, were discovered with the heads severed.
While Ajaya’s head was lying on the railway track near his body, the girl’s head was nowhere to be found. However, one of the wrists of the girl was found lying at a little distance. There were multiple injury marks on both the bodies.
“The body gets mutilated when a train runs over it and drags it away. The injury marks were probability due to dragging,” said a coolie.
The boy was a student of Lahunipara College and the girl was studying at Sushilabati Women’s College in Rourkela.
The girl hailed from Tuslikani village of Bisra, while the boy was from Talbahali Lahunipara.
This morning, Bisra police informed the families of the deceased about the incident.
Inspector in charge of Bisra police station Susant Kumar Das said: “There was no complaint about the girl missing from her family members.
This morning, we informed them about the incident after we had received the information from the railway police.”
It is being assumed that both of them died sometimes early in the last evening or late in the morning today.
The inspector in charge of the Government Railway Police said: “We received the information this morning, and I presume it happened sometimes last night.”
She also said initial inquiry revealed that they had committed suicide.
