Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Sunday made it clear that it would go toe-to-toe with the BJD at the grassroots level in rural belts and spare no effort to expose the ruling party's failures.

The core committee of the BJP state unit met on Sunday to decide the party's course of action in Odisha and decided to sensitise the people of the state about the central government's welfare schemes and the BJD government's attempts to hijack those.

The core committee also discussed the task assigned by party president Amit Shah and the job done to this effect so far. It also decided to launch a campaign to expose the state government's anti-poor policies.

Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, BJP national joint general secretary (organisation) Soudan Singh, BJP State Legislature party leader K.V. Singh Deo, former minister Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and others attended the meeting.

Emerging from the meeting, BJP leader Pratap Sarangi said: "We will expose the failures of the Naveen Patnaik government. Besides, our party workers will educate people about the government's anti-poor policy and how it is hijacking various central schemes. It is really unfortunate and shocking that the state government is opposing the Ayushman Bharat National Health Protection Mission."

The BJP also decided that it would educate people about how the government was appropriating the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by renaming it as the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana. "The state government has failed to spend even five per cent of the money that has come under the Pandit Deen Dayal Gram Jyoti Yojana and Soubhgya Yojana."

On the issue of completion of Shah's tasks, Jual Oram said: "Nearly 80 per cent of the work has been completed. The rest will be finalised soon."

During his visit to Odisha last month, Shah had assigned 30 tasks as part of its strategy to achieve the party's mission to achieve 120 plus seats in the Assembly.

Launching an scathing attack on the BJP, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said the BJP was intolerant towards the development schemes of the Naveen Patnaik government. "Why are they envious? We have never indulged in politics on development. They are not only intolerant, but insecure," said Patra.
