Bhadrak, July, 24: A Class-X student of an English medium school has been missing since Friday.
Amlan Pati of SBD International School did not return home after attending his classes. His parents and relatives made frantic efforts to look for him in Bhadrak and nearby places, but he could not be located till reports last came in.
The parents fear that their son might have tak one his classmates.
On Monday, the wristwatch of one of his classmates went missing. While it could not be traced, the vice-principal of the school, Sadananda Hota, was reported to have learnt on Thursday that it was with Amlan. He interrogated Amlan and took a written undertaking from him on Friday and asked his father to meet him after school hours.
Although Hota admitted that he questioned Amlan about the watch, he denied reports that he humiliated him.
"When I asked him about the wristwatch, he said that someone gave it to him and he kept it in the school toilet. He also gave it in writing. But the watch was not found. He was not humiliated," said Hota.
"His father was asked to come to the school around 5pm, which Amlan did not know. We pray for his early return," Hota said.
father Bishtu Pati said: "I was ignorant about what happened in school. I got a call from the school at 9:30am on Friday and was told to visit the school at 5pm."
Sources said Amlan was last seen near Dahanigadia, riding his bicycle towards Charampa around 4.50pm after the school hours. This footage was captured from a camera outside a two-wheeler showroom near Dahanigadia.
Although the parents have not lodged a complaint with the cops in writing, they have informed them verbally. The inspector in charge of Bhadrak rural police station, Sudarshan Gangoi, said: "We searched for Amlan at the railway station and bus stops but are yet to trace him."
"At 5pm on Friday, I got a call from the school saying my son was seen heading towards Charampa on his bicycle. My priority is to locate my son," said Pati, an advocate.
"The school authorities informed me that some of his colleagues saw him in a bus near Charampa," Pati added.
