Cuttack, Nov. 7: The civic body has focussed on its various welfare projects at a special pavilion set up at the Bali yatra ground.
The Cuttack Municipal Corporation used the yatra platform to display various projects, including the ongoing Japan International Co-operation Agency one. A project replica has been built inside the pavilion.
The proposed 36MLD treatment plant at the Cuttack Development Authority, too, has been replicated.
A pavilion gallery is showcasing the proposed projects to be undertaken by the civic body, including the state-of-the-art dispensary at Chauliaganj.
Sources said the existing dispensary, which is functioning from a rented accommodation, would be upgraded into a full-fledged hospital. The civic body has also highlighted projects such as the much-awaited art gallery and mobile toilets.
'We are planning to come up with four night shelters-cum-houses for the homeless at various parts of the city, and three sites for the project have been identified,' said commissioner Gyana Das.
Das said the pavilion also showcased the Rajiv Awas Yojana to be implemented at 10 slums for Rs 7 crore.
A special photo gallery about various prominent places in the city were also depicted at the kiosk. An official said the civic body had chalked out a plan for carrying out beautification drive in the city.
Moreover, many vending zones, public toilets and other public utilities will also come up in various wards.
However, lack of adequate information regarding various projects has sparked off resentment among residents.
Besides, the corporation has skipped the proposal of having a permanent welcome gate at Debigada, the place where idols are immersed during Dussehra.
'The corporation has failed to highlight any new project at the pavilion. The existing projects, including foot overbridge at Madhupatna and the Debigada portal, have missed the pavilion,' said Congress councillor of ward No. 37 Dharmanand Patra. Local residents also alleged that no information board carrying salient features of the projects was put up inside the pavilion.
