Singer Arijit Singh to perform at Xpressions |
Bhubaneswar, Nov. 4: Budding managers of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), are getting ready to stash away their books and dive into a melting pot of creative ideas and competitive spirit.
Xpressions, the three-day annual fest of this premier management cradle, begins on November 8.
A series of activities have been lined up for the three-day jamboree, which attracts students from reputed B-schools as well as tech institutes across the country. Business events, creative dos, intellectual competitions and cultural shows promise to make it an action-packed affair.
The cherry on top would be a concert featuring Arijit Singh, the latest heartthrob of Hindi music lovers, on the last day. The singer, who has delivered back-to-back musical hits, is expected to perform Barfi songs, Tum hi ho (Aashiqui 2), Dilliwali girlfriend and Kabira (Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani).
There is a lot more that Xpressions is geared up for this year. The students are in touch with MTV to get a slot in its Sunburn Campus programme.
A major event during the fest would be the BIG Xpressions in 60 seconds, an RJ hunt in association with Big FM. “In the preliminary round, participants will have 40 seconds to wow judges from the Odia film industry by talking, laughing, singing, screaming, mimicking, rapping and goofing around. The shortlisted ones will be given 60 seconds to prove their mettle. Winners will get an opportunity to co-host a radio show on Big FM,” said Sourav, a co-ordinator of the fest. The cultural events are a big draw. Apart from Thirkan (group dance), Yugal Nritya will have dancing pairs swinging and spinning to push social causes. Fans of histrionics can try their luck at Abhivyakti, a theatre show, or Nukkad where they act out the hopes and aspirations of the common man in a society battling corruption and other ills.
Carnival de Vogue, a fashion show, will invite youngsters to put their designing skills to test on various themes such as Time Machine, Nature’s mood swings and It’s my Life. Decibelz, a rock band competition, will see vigorous head banging to high-voltage music flowing out of electric guitars and metal cymbals.
“Preparations are in full swing. This year, we have several new and exciting activities such as the RJ hunt. To top it all, famed singer Arijit Singh will be visiting our campus to entertain us with his soulful voice. We are expecting a huge participation from other colleges,” said Gaurav Rohella, who heads IlluminatiX, the media and PR cell of the XIMB, along with fellow classmate Meghna Ranjan.
