Bhubaneswar, March 18: A day after Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra aka Lulu had accused food supplies and consumer welfare minister Sanjay Das Burma of receiving an SUV as gift from Artha Tatwa chief Pradeep Sethy, the sham firm boss today said the company had not given any vehicles to any political person as a present.
Sethy, however, told reporters that he was yet to receive some of the vehicles given to some people during general elections in 2014.
"Some political people had requested me to lend them vehicles during the election. Many of these vehicles were not yet returned to me," said Sethy#after his routine production at a court in Bhubaneswar.
Yesterday Mohapatra, without naming the minister, had alleged that one Mitsubishi Pajero purchased by Sethy was with one Sanjay Das Burma. Mohapatra also produced an affidavit submitted by the CBI before Orissa High Court to substantiate his claim. On this, Das Burma had said: "The allegations are baseless. I challenge him to prove the allegations and if it is proved I would retire from politics."
"All my statements made before the CBI are true, and we have never gifted any vehicles to anyone," said Sethy.
Later, Mohapatra sought a clarification from the state government over the vehicle. "The green Pajero with registration number OR 29-0001 with a red beacon had been used by a corporation chairman between 2007 and 2009. The vehicle had also a secretariat entry pass. The state government should name the authority, who had issued the secretariat entry pass and the person using the vehicle," Mohapatra said. Das Burma was the housing board chairman during 2007-2009.
