Bhubaneswar, Aug 4: Thirty-five established designers from across the country presented their collections at a two-day exhibition-cum-sale at an event titled Melange that concluded today.
The exhibition that showcased trendy outfits, jewellery, accessories and home décor left city shoppers spoilt for choice. Some of the designers invited to the event also have their own ventures. The customers were provided with an opportunity to interact with designers who gave some valuable insights about styling.
The kiosks housed both western and traditional wear. A colourful range of saris, salwar suits, tunics, jeans and skirts in various textures lured women to the kiosks.
Designers from Mumbai included Simran, Kashish designer studio, Om collections, Flutter by Preeti Kapoor and Labellaz.
Giving them tough competition were the Delhi-based brands such as Rim Jhim, Alankrit, Palash and Azzara. Even designers from Calcutta-based brands such as Kanika@35, Virachi, Charvi, Vandana Bajoria, Anara by Gazal, Beri’s, Mahotsav and Anju Agarwal presented innovative designs.
A handful of entrepreneurs, who were present at the exhibition, included Sanskrutie from Chennai, Raines from Indore and Singhanias from Hyderabad.
“We have been coming here for the past few years. Our range of designer jewellery is received with open arms,” said Nidhi of Sparkles, Delhi whose products were priced between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000. But one kiosk that drew everybody’s attention was Redz Pakistan that displayed Gota patti suits, Parsi borders, Karachi chiffon saris, neon colour suits et al.
“The moment fashionistas see that we have come from Pakistan, they get intrigued by trendy clothes of their neighbouring country. Along with my regular items, this year I have brought waterproof kohl. I hope it is received well,” said Ashley of Redz Pakistan.
The shopaholics were content with the range of clothes and accessories. “I came looking for a chiffon sari for my sister’s engagement. I loved the embroidery on the saris so much that I am taking home three of them,” said 21-year-old engineering student Salona Mohanty.
