Sambalpur Dec. 19: Police on Friday busted an arms racket in Jharsuguda and arrested five persons.
The cops raided several areas in Jharsuguda and arrested the accused, who allegedly procured arms and ammunition from Bihar and sold them in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.
The accused have been identified as Sanjaya Singh, Dilip Soni, Nepal Mistri alias Malaya, Mrutyunjaya Pal and Muna Khadanga. While Sanjaya hails from Bihar and Dilip from Jharkhand, the other three accused are Jharsuguda residents. All five stayed in Jharsuguda.
"They had been running the business for past six months. They procured the arms from Ranchi and Munger and sold the pistols between Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000," said Jharsuguda police station inspector in charge Khirasagar Naik.
