
Rourkela, Feb. 7: The annual literary and cultural festival titled Nitrutsav 2015, organised by the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, is on in full swing on the institute campus here.
The festival was inaugurated last evening. It has drawn over 150 participants from 30 institutes, mostly from the eastern part of the country. "We see to it that students get adequate exposure to the finer points of life. By taking part in cultural activities, they become better citizens," said Susmita Das from the department of electrical engineering and the vice-president of the cultural society of NIT, Rourkela.
This year the festival is holding 35 events in various categories such as literature and art. "Debate and essay writing competitions and a quiz programme will draw many participants. Quiz will be held on two categories - business and general. The quiz master has come from Bangalore," said Das.
The art competitions will have sections such as poster making, collage making, painting and face painting.
There will be workshops on creative writing, sand art, painting and pattachitra, photography and choreography.
Fashionista, the fashion show of Nitrutsav, will be held tomorrow evening. Renowned model Sanjana Ganehan from Mumbai will be the judge. She will also hold a special session for the girl students on the finer aspects of grooming. There will also be fun events such as Halloween party, DJ night, roadies and war of bands. Delhi-based rock band Eka will also perform at the event.
"It's a different experience for me," said a student from NIT, Jamshedpur. "We will see to it that the fest is memorable," said Das.
