Sambalpur: The district administration has recommended setting up 52 addition polling stations to the Chief Electoral Officer and communicaed the decision to political parties at a meeting here on Friday.
"The decision came after meetings attended by political parties at the sub-divisional level," additional district magistrate Ajay Kumar Jena told The Telegraph.
The conclusion was reached after leaders from several Assembly segments held detailed discussions with the administration, he said. Sambalpur sub-collector Pradeep Kumar Sahu, and officials from Rairakhol and Kuchinda subdivisions also attended the meeting.
The administration calculated distance and numerical strength of voters in each polling station. "Leaders suggested that polling booths should be located at distances that would enable voters of all age groups to reach comfortably to freely cast their votes," said Jena.
