Keonjhar: Police on Saturday arrested four persons, including a minor, who had molested a minor girl at Belagada-Nuagaon tourist spot and later uploaded the video of the crime on social media.

"At least three other persons were also involved in the crime. They will be arrested shortly," said sub-divisional police officer Sriharsha Mishra.

They have confessed to have committed the crime under the influence of liquor. They have also named three other persons who were partners in the crime, the police said. The arrested are Prahallad Naik, 34, Harish Naik, 28, and Pratap Naik, 29, besides a 14-year-old boy, who was produced in the juvenile justice board, which later sent him to a reformatory.

The video clippings drew police action. But, no complaint had been lodged in this connection. The district police's cyber crime wing probed the video and registered a case. Later, the criminals had been identified, and a special squad arrested them.

Three accused, booked under IPC sections 354 (outraging the modesty of woman or girl), 292 (representation of person or any other object in obscene manner), 294 (obscene act), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), the Information Technology Act sections 67 and 67 (a), were later remanded in judicial custody.

The district police are maintaining zero tolerance in cases of obscene photos or videos going viral on social media.
