Angul: After successfully trans-locating a tiger to Satkosia Tiger Reserve on Thursday, the authorities are now planning to bring another one, a female, into the sanctuary by next Saturday.
All arrangements have been made to this effect.
The tigress will come from Bandhabgarh Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. The male one had come from Kanha National Park, said Angul additional chief conservator of forest Sudarshan Panda .
"A female tiger is quite necessary now in Satkosia and it is not advisable to keep a lone male tiger in the reserve for a long time," he said.
The heath of the three-year-old male tiger, which has been lodged in an enclosure at Raigoda is sound. On Thursday night, it had preyed on a wild boar in the enclosure and ate part of it leaving the rest for the following day.
It also drank water and took a bath in the artificial water tank inside the enclosure.
"It is hale and hearty and has been behaving normally over the past three days," said Panda. "Again on Saturday night, another wild boar was left in the enclosure. The tiger preyed on it late in the night. It slept well on Saturday and Sunday," he said.
He said four scientists of Wildlife Institute of India are keeping a watch on the tiger and monitoring his all activities round the clock .
"Once he is declared fit, he will be released into the forest," he said.
Security has been tightened with around 200 forest guards deployed around the tiger enclosure because of the opposition by Satkosia Khyatigrastha Praja Surakhya Samiti to the tiger project, said another forest official.
